Aston are killing it design wise

Fuck modern car design, it’s bullshit. But Aston is doing it well.

None of that hideous Lexus snout, none of the crazy over-complicated surfacing. It’s modern, it’s unique, it’s bold, it’s distinctive.

This applies to the whole Aston line-up right now AFAIC.

This is absolutely disgusting. If you can’t trust the Americans for bold but attractive cars, the world has gone to shit.

Look at this Accord. It is an ugly car. It’s a mistake.

Mercedes what are you doing

I do like modern Ferraris and whatnot. But the Aston looks 5 years newer than anything else on the market.

Today’s designs have no purity or honesty. You have to go pretty expensive to get a car with clean lines and grilles that actually do something . Everyone else is just counting character lines.

Hot take: That’s the ugliest Aston of the last 10 years .

The hood is way too fucking high . They tied the wheel arch into that goofy vent, which only makes the car look thicker/taller .

The headlights are just warped blobs slapped on the front.

It’s too heavy.

It’s too slow for the price/competition .

Also, totally uninterested after the Mercedes engine injection. They turbo’d it... yawn... just like everything else. An Aston shouldn’ t be like anything else.

I think it’s far from plain. It’s well designed and proportioned while not being offensive to the eye or too busy.

In fact after three years of ownership if this one above , we’re going to get another one.

It’s a liftback meaning a massive opening with the tailgate up.

I love the hidden bonnet shut, that flows from the head light to the tail light.

Ohhh so that waistline is the bonnet seam too. That’s neato, very clean. I’m sure some designer somewhere is very proud of that and I didn’t even notice.

Be careful with that liftback/hatchback stuff around our American friends. So far as I can tell that pretty much means a car is shit.

For comparison’s sake I’d like to point out this

See that plastic panel just behind the rear door? What the hell is that? Some sort of design mistake? This is a Toyota Camry and I expected better. You may say the Skoda’s design is more harmonious than I’d expected, and you might say this is the exact opposite of that.

I respectfully disagree regarding the Honda Accord - I really think the Sport is beautiful.  Best looking current sedan available.  It’s a little big, but the lines are magnificent.

One of the designers of the Superb was poached b y BMW.

Y e’, I know the Americans and the plastic/faux window on the C pillar, also the faux intakes/plastic panels on the front and/or rear of cars, etc...

As well as the usual FWD and it being RHD and it not having three/four times the power at just 148bhp.

I assume Toyota wants the flow of a design they came up with but reality won’t let them, if you tinted the windows it would help.

Skoda have adopted a lot of the same design cues as the Superb clamshell bonnet and hidden shut lines onto the new very soon to be released (Skoda told me it’ll be May this year), Scala. Very good looking car I think.
